    The Elementary Band & Strings Program is a unique instrumental music program that is distinctive to the NVSD. The program complements the BC Ministry of Education’s Arts Education curriculum and provides school-based instrumental instruction to students in the intermediate grades (Grades 5 – 7 for Band and Grades 4 – 7 for Strings).

    International Women’s Day is an opportunity to bring attention to issues such as gender equality, reproductive rights and violence and abuse against women, girls, Two-Spirit and not-binary people across the world. The theme for 2024 is “innovation and technology for gender equality. It is observed annually on March 8.

    ​Students in Grades 9–12 and their families are invited to explore the wide range of careers and career pathways available in the arts. Students with an interest in visual arts, music, music therapy, dance, fashion design, architecture, gallery curation, jewelry making, animation, special effects, or acting are encouraged to attend.

    • Engage with local businesses and cultural icons like the Vancouver Opera, Inuit Gallery of Vancouver, Opus Art Supplies, and Presentation House Theatre.

    • Explore post secondary opportunities with representatives from La Salle College, Capilano University, SFU's School for the Contemporary Arts, KPU’s Wilson School of Design, BCIT Architecture and Design, Vancouver Film School, Langara College, Vancouver Community College and Emily Carr University of Art + Design.​
