More than 130 people attended an awards reception recently to celebrate
students who received education scholarships or bursaries from a local
non-profit organization.
The North Vancouver High School
Education Foundation gave 90 scholarships totalling more than $124,000
this year in an effort to help students with post-secondary education.
An awards reception held at the North Vancouver school board offices was
held two weeks ago and was attended by scholarship recipients, parents,
donours and other guests.
The foundation was formed in 1979
following the closure of North Vancouver Secondary School. A group of
people who managed monies bequethed to the shuttered school joined
forces with the Kiwanis Dollars for Scholars group in order to form the
foundation, according to a press release.
