- 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m & 1500 m (1500 m is for Gr. 6 & 7 only)
- 4 X 100 relay and co-ed relay (100m, 100m, 200m, 400m)
- As soon as the relay teams are organized, relays will also be a part of this training.

Track and Field Meets - Spring 2025
Wednesday April 23, 2025 - 3:30pm to approx 5pm β Fun Field Meet (High Jump, Long/Triple Jump & Shot Put only). Grade 6 & 7's at Dorothy Lynas / Grade 4 & 5's at Sherwood Park.
Wednesday May 7, 2025 - 12:45pm to approx 3:00pm- Fun Track Meet at Windsor Secondary (Running races only)

- Event order is: 1500 m / 4X100 relays / Co-ed medley relays / 800 m / 100 m / 400 m / 200 m
- Each event runs by grade starting at grade 7 and works down to grade 4
βWednesday May 14, 2025 - 8:30βam - 12noon - Track Qualifications at Sutherland Secondary. Only qualified students attend. Check back for more details closer to the event. Running races only.β
Tuesday May 20, 2025 - 3:30pm to approx 5pm - Field Qualifications. Grade 6 & 7's at Dorothy Lynas / Grade 4 & 5's at Sherwood Park.β Only qualified students attend. (High Jump, Long Jump, Triple Jumpβ, Shot Put only)
Tuesday June 3, 2025 - 8:00am to 3:00pm. Final Track AND Field meet at Swangard Stadium, Central Park, Burnaby. Only qualified students attend.
Qualification Process
At the start of the season, all students can participate in any event they wish to try and can attend the FUN Track or Field meets.
Selection for the Qualification Meets is based on attendance at the practices and performance in the sport. We have limits as to the numbers of students we can send to the qualification meets. The coaches will inform students if they have been selected to go to the qualification meets
Selection for the final Swangard Track & Field Meet is based on performance at the qualification meets. Students will be informed if they have made the final team. "Alternates" will also be informed and will only attend if a qualified student is unable to attend. β
βTransportation
Students/Parents/Guardians
are responsible for transportation to and from all track and field meets. Families
are welcome to arrange their own carpools with other families. Families are welcome to attend the events and cheer on the teams.
However, due to mid-day timing of the April 23rd Track Meet at Windsor Secondary School, Cove Cliff will arrange transportation to this event. Please note this event is for running events only. The bus will depart Cove Cliff at 12noon, and is ONE WAY transportation only. Students must arrange to be picked up after the event (approx. 3pm) from Windsor Secondary.
Full details will be confirmed soon. The bus space is limited to the first 50 students, and you will need to sign up to secure a spot. Starting at 9:00am on date TBA click this TBA LINK to request a space on the bus. The bus booking form will be open until 3:00pm on DATE TBA, and will reopen at 9am on DATE TBA if there are still spaces available. Team Jerseysβ
βStudents who participate in Track & Field meets are asked to wear a team jersey. The school charges a refundable $75 deposit per jersey. A School Cash Online charge will be added to participating student accounts and jerseys will be handed out to students prior to the first meet. Deposits will be refunded once the jersey is cleaned and returned at the end of the season. β
Other Important Detailsβ
- βAll practices are held at Cove Cliff and are mandatory. If your child can't attend, please notify the coach the day before.
- All students are expected to demonstrate good sportsmanship and follow the Code of Conduct. Remember you are representing Cove Cliff!
- Parents/Guardians are
responsible for arranging transportation to and from Track & Field meets
with the exception of the Track Meet at Windsor where we have
arranged a 54 seat bus to the event to help families who may have trouble with
mid-day transportation. See above for details..
- It is hoped that parents/guardians will stay at these events to support the athletes. If parents/guardians are unable to stay, they must return to pick up or arrange to picked-up at the listed time. Please remember to carpool if you can!
- Schedules will be handed out prior to the events to assist with planning.
- Students need to check in and out with coaches at an event.
