​​​​​​​Students who wish to submit applications to be considered to be Handsworth's nominee(s) for external awards should regularly check the Grad 2025 Teams page

The application form to be considered for Handsworth’s school-based awards will be shared with students as an MS Form in their CLC Team and here in early December, 2024.  The deadline will be late January, 2025.  Students must submit an application in order to be considered. Late submissions are not permitted.

​For external scholarship, bursary, and/or financial aid information, check out the following websites:

  • EducationPlannerBC: Information about types of expenses, budgeting, student aid, and types of financial support; connects students to scholarship and other financial aid.
  • Global Scholarships: Connects students to university, external, and government scholarships, particularly for international students.
  • North Vancouver High School Education Foundation: The NVHSEF offers three types of awards. The Handsworth Scholarship Committee selects and invites several students to apply every year.
  • Scholar Tree: Helps students to find and apply for scholarships. Requires an account.
  • Scholarships Canada: Lists relevant scholarships and bursaries, free of charge. Requires an account, but students are not charged for using the site. 
  • Student Awards: Searchable database to help students sort scholarship opportunities by province, school, award value, difficulty, among other criteria. Students may subscribe.
  • BC Scholarships: Helps connect BC students with scholarships.
  • Student Scholarship: Scholarship database for students, free for public use.
  • Yconic: Weekly newsletters about scholarship updates, searchable database for scholarships, bursaries, and other funding opportunities.

Lester B. Pearson Student Scholarship

The Lester B. Pearson International Scholarships at the University of Toronto​  is intended to recognize students who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement and creativity and who are recognized as leaders within their school. A special emphasis is placed on the impact the student has had on the life of their school and community, and their future potential to contribute positively to the global community.

 

Requires a school nomination. Application form is found in the Scholarship Info channel of students’ CLC Team

TD Scholarship for Indigenous Peoples

​​The scholarship program is tailored specifically for Indigenous Peoples and managed by AFOA Canada. TD understands the unique challenges and systemic barriers we face as a People. That’s why we have worked closely with TD to customize a scholarship to meet the needs of students from the Indigenous community.

UBC International Scholars Program
​If you are an international student and will apply to UBC, consider submitting your application to Handsworth's Scholarship committee to be the school's nominee. 

There are four categories of prestigious need-and-merit-based awards available through UBC’s International Scholars Program. You won’t select which award you wish to receive when you submit your application – our team will automatically consider you for the awards that you are eligible for.

Community Leadership Scholarships - TD Canada Trust
These scholarships recognize students who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to community leadership. TD Scholarships for Community Leadership​ recipients receive up to $70,000 for tuition and living expenses as well as opportunities for paid summer employment, peer networking and mentorship.

Beedie Luminaries

​Beedie Luminaries has several scholarships available for students with potential who are facing financial and other life adversities. Students who are smart, but constrained by circumstance. Students who are resilient and gritty. Students who are ready to make a positive change in their lives.

There are four programs available to graduating high school students, so you might be the right fit for one of them!

·  Shine, for a promising grade 12 student

·  Build, for students entering into the trades at BCIT

·  Rise, for refugees and immigrants

·  Spark, for single parents


There are specific eligibility requirements for each program, so please see the links above for more specific information and to apply.
