What do Automotive Technicians do?
Repair and test motor vehicles
Disassemble, inspect and assemble engines and accessories, cooling systems, transmissions and clutches, drive lines, braking and suspension systems.
Employ logic and deductive reasoning in diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical as well as electrical/electronic vehicle systems.
What do I need to start?
Entering Grade 11 or Grade 12
Good employability skills
A willingness to learn
Strong interest in entering industry
Mechanical aptitude is an asset
English 12 and Math 10 are required
What are the benefits?
Tuition-free post-secondary apprenticeship training
Up to 16 graduation credits
Apprenticeship Technical Training Certification Level 1
Student registered with SkilledTradesBC
When and where is the program offered?
30 weeks, full-time at BCIT (Burnaby Campus)
Intakes in February, April and July
