​What does a Marine Service Technician do? 

A Marine Service Technician (MST) is a skilled tradesperson who builds, refits, maintains, surveys and/or repairs vessels up to 150 feet. They work in marinas, boatyards, service centres and specialty businesses serving the ever-growing small craft/recreational marine industry. (quadrantmarine.com)

What do I need to start?

  • You must be working in the Marine Service Industry.  Contact marine..... if you need help finding work.
  • Apprentices must have an Employer Sponsor who can provide work-based learning experiences. 
  • Both the Apprentice and the Employer Sponsor should look at the MST Program Outline and the scope of the MST trade
  • Minimum grade 10 Math and English.
  • Contact Quadrant Marine https://www.quadrantmarine.com/ if concerned about your math or language skills.​

​What are the benefits?

When and where is the program offered?

  • Full time program - Vancouver, BC: Shelter Island Marina
  • LIVE ONLINE CLASSES :  One night per week from September to March.
  • HANDS-ON WORKSHOPS: One week in December and March/April (Vancouver).
  • WORK-BASED TRAINING: Technical training is typically 20% training and 80% practice at work.

​What do need for the program?

  • ​Reliable computer, webcam, speakers and internet. 
  • 70% is required to pass for all trades training.
  • 60-90 minutes of reading and assignments per week.
  • Respectful engagement and participation in all classes and workshops.
  • Regularly check and reply to email and/or text message updates. 
  • Apply learning and professionalism at work.
