The Piping Foundation program prepares students for entry-level employment in the piping trades and allows them to experience plumbing, steamfitting, gasfitting and sprinklerfitting (Source: BCIT).
What does a Pipefitter do?
- Installs, alters and repairs plumbing systems
- Reads and interprets blueprints and project specifications
- Selects, measures, shapes and joins pipes
- Develops specialized skills & knowledge based on the substance being carried (water, steam, gas, chemicals)
What do I need to start?
- Entering Grade 11 or Grade 12
- Good employability skills
- Strong interest in entering the industry
- Strong math skills and mechanical aptitude are assets
- English 12 and a Math 11 are required
What are the benefits?
- Up to 16 graduation credits
- Post-secondary training without the tuition fee
- Apprenticeship Technical Training Level 1 Certification leading to pipefitting, steam fitting, gas fitting and sprinkler installation
