Hear from Simon Worley, Embedded Technology Teacher for the NVSD. Simon holds a Master’s in Education Technology from UBC, and will explore how parents can use AI tools to support their children’s learning at home in meaningful and responsible ways. This session will highlight practical applications of AI that can be used at home, including text-to-speech applications for improved accessibility, translation tools for multilingual families, AI-generated practice questions and study aids, and organizational tools to help children and youth stay on track. Simon will also discuss strategies for identifying when AI is being used appropriately as a learning aid versus when it may be undermining skill development, such as using it to write an entire essay. The goal is to leave with a better understanding of how to integrate AI into home learning while fostering critical thinking and academic integrity.
