Queen Mary Community Elementary School offers the International Baccalaureate® (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP).


The IB PYP is for students aged 3-12 and prepares students to become active, caring, lifelong learners who demonstrate respect for themselves and others and have the capacity to participate in the world around them.     Students in Grades 10 and 11 and their families are welcome to join for an information night to learn more about the Young Entrepreneurship and Leadership Launchpad (YELL). YELL is designed for students who have an interest in business or who have an entrepreneurial spirit. YELL is available at Handsworth and Sutherland Secondary.

    ​The Elementary Band & Strings Program is a unique instrumental music program that is distinctive to the NVSD. The program complements the BC Ministry of Education’s Arts Education curriculum and provides school-based instrumental instruction to students in the intermediate grades (Grades 5 – 7 for Band and Grades 4 – 7 for Strings).
