International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme at Queen Mary Community School

Queen Mary is a vibrant learning and teaching environment comprised of a diverse student population. Queen Mary’s teachers, administrators, and support staff work together to provide students with rich and relevant, globally significant learning experiences.

Queen Mary Elementary School is an authorized International Baccalaureate (IB) World School offering the Primary Years Programme (PYP), uniting with all other IB World Schools under a common philosophy - a commitment to high quality, international education that we believe is important for our students.

All IBO programmes help develop the intellectual, personal, emotional, and social skills for students to live, learn, and work in a rapidly globalizing world. After completing Grade 7, students from Queen Mary can advance to the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) at Carson Graham Secondary School. They also have the opportunity of applying to the IB Diploma Programme (Grades 11 and 12) at Carson Graham.

About the Primary Years Programme

The IB Primary Years Programme  (PYP) is a transdisciplinary, inquiry based framework for curriculum and instruction that encourages international mindedness and fosters life-long learning. It is designed to incorporate the provincial curriculum through six globally significant themes, via “Units of Inquiry” that teachers create to allow for in-depth investigations into locally relevant and globally significant issues.
