Family Day is observed annually on the third Monday of February and is a statutory holiday in British Columbia. It provides families an opportunity to spend time with each other.

Students in Grades 10 and 11 and their families are welcome to join for an information night to learn more about the Young Entrepreneurship and Leadership Launchpad (YELL). YELL is designed for students who have an interest in business or who have an entrepreneurial spirit. YELL is available at Handsworth and Sutherland Secondary.

The Elementary Band & Strings Program is a unique instrumental music program that is distinctive to the NVSD. The program complements the BC Ministry of Education’s Arts Education curriculum and provides school-based instrumental instruction to students in the intermediate grades (Grades 5 – 7 for Band and Grades 4 – 7 for Strings).
