North Vancouver School District 44 is proud to offer the International Baccalaureate Continuum--the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP) and the Diploma Programme (DP).
At Carson Graham Secondary, every
student is enrolled in the Middle
Years Programme (Grades 8, 9, 10), whereas in the Diploma
Programme (Grades 11, 12), students apply for entrance into the two-year
programme. Applications are accepted in January each year.
The aim of the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO)
is "to develop internationally-minded young people who, recognizing their
common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet, help to create a better
and more peaceful world. The programme strives to create international student
ambassadors who are committed, talented, articulate and compassionate. This is
accomplished through intercultural education and understanding and respect for
others" (ibo.org).
The Middle Years Programme (MYP)
and the Diploma Programme (DP) build upon the inquiry-based approach to
learning; both are widely-recognized courses of study that emphasize critical
and creative thinking and writing skills in preparation for post-secondary
studies.
