The NVSD invites parents and caregivers to attend an online presentation facilitated by Shelley Moore: Supporting Parents/Caregivers with the Transition to Competency Based Individual Education Plans.
About the session
This session is geared towards parents/caregivers of students who have Individual Education Plans. An Individual Education Plan (IEP) is a documented plan developed for either a student with a disability(-ies) or a neurodivergent student. It describes individualized goals, adaptations or modifications, and the universal and essential supports to be provided; it also includes measures for tracking progress.
The session will address:
- Why school districts across the province are switching to Competency Based IEPs.
- What is the same and what is different from the current IEP to a Competency Based IEP.
- The main components of the Competency Based IEP.
