A Message from the Superintendent

Dear North Vancouver School District Community,

“Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself.” – John Dewey.

As the 2023-2024 school year ends, I want to thank you for a tremendous school year where every month highlighted educational, artistic, and athletic achievements for all students. This school year has been one where we built upon supports for all students, tackling topics such as: truth, healing and reconciliation, Indigenous education, mental health and wellbeing, social emotional learning, student voice, career development, inclusive education and innovative instruction.

The year in review video presents a brief snapshot highlighting community, connection and curiosity across the NVSD. You might recognize some familiar faces.

I want to extend my heartfelt appreciation to the dedicated, hardworking, and talented educators and staff across our school district. Each day, they bring their expertise, experience, and passion to enhance the learning environment, making the NVSD a better place for everyone. I also want to thank our trustees, rights holders, and education partners who have supported schools throughout the year.

Lastly, to the incredible graduating students of NVSD, thank you for being exemplary role models and community leaders. We cannot wait to see what you do next and wish you the very best as you embark on your next adventure.

I look forward to reconnecting in September to continue celebrating the remarkable achievements within the NVSD. Until then, I wish you all a safe and joyous summer!

Respectfully,

Dr. Pius Ryan
Superintendent of Schools

Homestay families urgently needed

Each year, the North Vancouver School District welcomes students from around the world to live and study in our vibrant community in the International Program. We strive to place secondary International Program students with families who live close to school to support each student's integration into the school and wider community.

We still have several secondary International Program students in need of a homestay placement for the school term, beginning at the end of August 2024. If you are interested in hosting an international student, please reach out to our International Education program office at international@sd44.ca. More information about the homestay program is available on the International Education section of the NVSD website.
