Automotive Technician Foundation

​What do Automotive Technicians do? 

  • Repair and test motor vehicles 
  • Disassemble, inspect and assemble engines and accessories, cooling systems, transmissions and clutches, drive lines, braking and suspension systems.

What do I need to start?

  • ​Entering Grade 11 or Grade 12 
  • Good employability skills 
  • A willingness to learn 
  • Strong interest in entering industry 
  • Mechanical aptitude is an asset 
  • English 12 and Math 10 are required 

​What are the benefits? 

  • ​Tuition-free post-secondary apprenticeship training 
  • Up to 16 graduation credits 
  • Apprenticeship Technical Training Certification Level 1 
  • Student registered with SkilledTradesBC 

When and where is the program offered? 

  • ​30 weeks, full-time at BCIT (Burnaby Campus) 
  • Intakes in February, April and July

  • Participate in an interview
