What does a welder do?
- A Welder is a person who has training in and is capable of welding ferrous and non-ferrous metals in all positions, on both plate and/or pipe, using various welding processes.
- Welders deal with the selection, layout, shearing, cutting (with a torch), drilling and welding of metal plates and structural steel shapes into products.
- Welders work for sheet metal fabrication, welding shops and ship building companies.
What do I need to start?
- Entering grade 11 or 12
- Good employability skills
- Strong interest in entering industry
- Good hand-eye coordination and physical condition
- Strong math skills are an asset
- English 12 and a Math 10 are required
