Handsworth Football Update
Grade 8
Football Starts in April!
Hello Royals! A
call-out to Grade 8 students who are interested in playing football for the
Handsworth Royals – training camp starts in April! The football team has a long tradition at Handsworth
and is notable for its inclusiveness – everyone is welcome to join and there
are never player cuts. You needn’t
have played community football to start playing in Grade 8 and our coaches will
take you through all the steps to enjoy this great sport safely and
successfully. We provide most of the
equipment to play (helmets, pads, etc.) so it is easy to get into the game! Our equipment is top rated for safety,
well-maintained and custom fitted to each player to provide the best playing
experience possible.
Football is
widely considered “the ultimate team sport” as all eleven players are reliant
on each other to complete each play successfully. With this dependency, the Handsworth football
program generates a close team environment with player relationships built for
a lifetime through their five years in the program. Players also find themselves dedicated to
fitness and healthy living lifestyles through their training experiences. Some Senior players are usually successful
each year at attaining post-secondary playing opportunities across Canada and
in the U.S. if they so choose. Will you
be next?
Questions about
the football program can be directed to Ms. Carabetta scarabetta@sd44.ca during the day or via e-mail
to the team representatives – see the football page on the school website for
contacts.
We hope to see
you on the field in April! Go Blue!
Strachan Hartley Run
Thanks to our Handsworth Royals Football Team for their volunteer support for the Strachan Hartley Run on Sunday, October 20, 2019. Since 2007, The Strachan Hartley Community Run has been organized 100% by volunteers with all the proceeds going to the Streetfront Program which helps youth achieve their full potential through sports and education. This year's run raised almost $44,000 for youth at risk. https://www.shlf.ca/the-run/.
