The Careers 9 curriculum is delivered through both large group assemblies
and smaller group activities throughout the school year. Students will
participate in Take Our Kids to Work Day in November. Students will also
participate in a Junior Achievement workshop and a value of volunteering workshop.
Dear Grade 9 Parents and Guardians,
Launched in 1994, Take Our Kids to Work Day is the most recognized career exploration event in Canada. This year, Take Our Kids to Work Day will take place on Wednesday, November 6th, 2024.
What is the program about?
Take Our Kids to Work Day is a learning opportunity for Grade 9 students across Canada. Students spend the day at the workplace of a parent, relative, friend, or volunteer host. Through Take Our Kids to Work Day, students are able to witness the world of work firsthand, prompting early career planning, and enabling students to make informed decisions pertaining to their future goals and endeavors.
What if it is not possible to go to work with a parent?
There are other ways for your child to participate:
• Ask a relative, neighbor or family friend to take your child to work.
• Ask a parent who is taking his or her child to work if your son or daughter can join them for the day.
• Contact local businesses and ask if they are participating in Take Our Kids to Work Day.
How do I sign up?
Simply fill out, sign the attached consent form, and return it to the Main Office by Wednesday October 30, 2024. The school will excuse the student’s absence for November 6, 2024.
